What to do when your therapist moves on  (email a question)
    Question:
Our daughter has suffered a Brachial Plexus Injury at Birth. She is currently four years of age. We consulted with numerous medical clinics and found Dr. Rahul Nath. He was successful in restoring the use of our daughter’s arm when she was two years of age. We have always worked with her in therapy and she has progressed well. She has gained back a great deal of function considering she had only wrist. What we have noticed is that she is overcompensating with her bicep as she gets older. We know she has triceps because she can move it while in a zero gravity (however it is still weak). We purchased the NT2000-TES unit. We have done a great job working on her scapula. My question is about Triceps stimulation using the NT2000-TES. Do you know the correct placement locations on her arm for the electrodes or can you refer me to a place on the internet as a resource that would be a good reference so that we can start working with her Triceps to help strengthen it? We certainly don't want to guess. The therapist we used to work with has since moved. Any answers you may have would be appreciated.

Answer:
Unfortunately, therapists do move about a bit. There is a TES home Study Program now available on the web for professionals, so you could get your current therapist trained to help you.

Home Study

You definitely can treat the triceps with TES, but it works best when it is integrated into an overall plan of action. We cannot give a treatment plan over the internet without seeing her. Could your therapist come to the course we are doing in Albany, May 19-20?

Albany Workshop May 19-20, 2007

That is the fastest way to learn all the options for your daughter. Dr. Nath and a team of expert therapists are joining me for this terrific course.

You can also go to our Find a Trained TES Therapist webpage and we will try to find someone already trained in your area.
